Freeware programs

As you all know or do now, I usually around once a month or so post some very useful links to some great freeware that come in very handy for nearly anyting you wish to accomplish.

As I normally tell those asking for my help, make sure to create a restore point before you install or make changes to settings useing these programs, that way if something goes wrong simply use that restore point and all should be good. Also, Be sure to always scan files after downloading to be safe.

Not sure how to create a restore point? No problem….

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore

For Classic Start Menu: Click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.

Click Create a restore point, and then click Next.

In the Restore point description box, type a name to identify this restore point. System Restore automatically adds to this name the date and time that this Restore Point is created.

To finish creating this restore point, click Create.

You can also launch System Restore window by typing the command below, in the RUN box: %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Don’t have an anti virus? Also no problem….

http://free.grisoft.com/    Go there and download the free version, They also have a free version of anti spyware which also works great too :]

The site below has tons of freeware that can help you in many ways:

  1. As always dude, you give everyone great ideas and suggestions. Bravo & Kudos to you!

IF those of you who are not (even if you claim to be) computer savvy, do as Nez says, create a restore / back up plan BEFORE altering anything on your systems. Don’t be shy, ask for help BEFORE doing anything.

Someone like myself that has (I’m not saying how many) ### years of PC experience even screwed up a laptop at home just by trying something and tweaking a setting. All to get some free music – why bother! Not worth the added stress / expense.

Oh and on an added note, apparently new PCs that come with pre-installed Vista and you want to download your trusty dvd decrypter / unscrambler / doohickey (or whatever the hell its called) apparently, the geniuses at Microsoft have set place an auto crash & burn of your system if you use any of these programs on Vista. Might be an end to movie piracy? Who knows….

Also, nice updated pic bro! Finally get to see beyond the convenience store hold up pose of dark glasses and a hat! Although, one begs to question… who is the person you cropped out of the photo LOL ;)
